Outrage grows as organizations seek strict action in minor girl assault case

Several organizations have strongly condemned the recent alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur and demanded strict against the accused.

Condemning the incident, the Eastern Naga Women Organization (ENWO) reiterated its unwavering opposition to all forms of violence and crimes against women and children.

The ENPO hoped that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) would conduct a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation without any interference from any authority or individual. The Organisation further asserted that the accused, who has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, must be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law, without fear, favour, or special consideration.

ENWO also urged the Government and all concerned authorities to ensure that justice is delivered and that the accused is not allowed to evade accountability under any circumstances.

ENWO further cautioned the concerned authorities that the Organisation would closely monitor the progress of the investigation and the actions taken in this case to ensure that justice is served and due process is upheld at every stage.

It also reminded all Eastern Naga parents that under no circumstances should children be sent away to work as domestic helpers. It cautioned homeowners and guardians against employing or accommodating any Eastern Naga child as a domestic helper.

Phomla Hoichem:

The Phomla Hoichem has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assaults and physical abuse of a minor girl in Dimapur and said that such a cruel and in human act is a direct attack on the dignity, safety and future of children and has no place in any civilised society .

It express deepest solidarity and support to the victim and her family during this painful and difficult time.

The Phomla Hoichem appealed to the concerned law enforcement authorities to conduct a fair, swift and transparent investigation and to take strict legal action against all those found involved in accordance with the law justice must not be delayed.

It further urged all organisation leaders and citizen to rise above personal, tribal or sectional interests collectively stand against crimes of sexual violence and exploitation, silence and indifference only encourage such acts while unity and accountability strengthen justice and public trust.

KNSK:

The Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), while condemning the heinous crime committed against a minor girl by the accused, O Watimeren of Lingrijan colony, Dimapur, said such a monstrous act is a grave violation of human dignity, rights and safety of all children.

Expressing solidarity with the victim and the family, the KNSK urged the concern authority and the law enforcement to leave no stone unturned in ensuring justice to the victim.

Changsao Thangjam Setshang:

The Changsao Thangjam Setshang unequivocally condemned the recent act of sexual assault against a minor student by the accused, O Watimeren of Lingrijan Colony, Dimapur.

It appealed to the law enforcement authorities to conduct a swift, transparent and thorough investigation under the POCSO Act and other reliable laws to ensure the perpetrator is held fully accountable under the law.

It also expressed solidarity with victim and the family recognizing the profound trauma and courage it takes to navigate such an experience.

AST:

The Akehta Sangtamlarü Thsingmiijang (AST) has expressed profound shock and unequivocal condemnation of the sexual violation committed against a minor girl in Dimapur.

The AST expressed solidarity with the young survivor and her family, and pledged its full support as they face this profound trauma — and affirming its commitment to remain by their side until justice is fully and uncompromisingly delivered.

The AST demanded that the case must be treated as an organized criminal conspiracy, with investigators conducting an exhaustive inquiry into the complete timeline of the assaults and every individual connected to them. It also demanded that law enforcement must act with urgency to identify and apprehend every person who participated in, facilitated, or abetted these offences. No perpetrator must be permitted to evade accountability.

The AST said O Watimeren Jamir and all alleged accomplices must be denied bail at every stage of proceedings, without exception.

It further said the case must be prosecuted without delay under the full force of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, with the strictest sentences the law mandates — sentences that affirm the sanctity of childhood and serve as an unambiguous deterrent

The AST further appealed to all law enforcement agencies, media organisations, and the public — including social media users — to unconditionally protect the identity, privacy, and dignity of the minor victim.

STD:

The Santamlarü Thsingmüjang Dimapur (STD) has condemned the sexual assault of a minor girl, perpetrated by O Watimeren Jamir and said that a crime of this magnitude against a child is a severe violation of human right and a direct threat to the safety of children.

Expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, the STD appealed to law enforcement and the judicial authorities to ensure justice is served without delay and that the accused O Watimeren Jamir be denied bail under any circumstances. It also demanded that the case be expedited through immediate legal proceedings to prevent any delay and that the perpetrator face the harshest penalties under the POCSO Act to serve as stern deterrent.

KMH:

The Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault committed against a minor girl by accused O Watimeren and said such inhuman act are a grave violation of the rights, dignity and safety of children and are completely unacceptable in any society.

Expressing solidarity with the victim and the family, the KMH urged the authorities concerned to ensure the child’s privacy, safety and swift legal action against the perpetrator in accordance with the law.

The KMH also urged all parents, schools, churches and civil society to strengthen child protection mechanism and speak up against abuse.

SWT: 

The Sangdak Wedoshi Thangjam (SWT) has condemned the reported sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur and said such heinous act is a grave violation of human dignity, trust and fundamental rights of a child.

Stating that crimes against children are unacceptable under any circumstances, the SWT said the accused, O Watimeren Jamir must be held accountable through a fair and speedy legal process.

It also called upon concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is delivered without any delay.

ASUD:

The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) has condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor in which O Watimeren Jamir has been named as the accused.

Condemning all forms of sexual violence, particularly crimes committed against children and minors, the ASUD said such acts, if established through due legal process, constitute a grave violation of human rights, personal dignity and the fundamental right of every child to safety and protection.

Expressing solidarity with the victim and the family, the ASUD urged the concerned authorities to conduct a fair, impartial and expeditious investigation. It also called upon law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to ensure that justice is delivered in accordance with the law and that rights, privacy and well-being of the victim are safeguarded through the legal process.

AWO:

The Angami Women Organisation (AWO) has strongly condemned the horrific sexual assault of a minor in Dimapur allegedly committed by O Watimeren Jamir and his associates.

Stating that the deeply disturbing incident has shocked and saddened the community, the AWO said no child should ever have to endure such trauma, fear and violation.

Such acts are unacceptable and must be met with strongest response under the law, the AWO said and urged the investigating authorities to conduct a swift, thorough and impartial investigation so that justice is neither delayed nor denied.

“Every effort must be made to establish the truth, ensure due process and hold those responsible fully accountable. Any attempt to obstruct, influence or interfere with the course of justice must be firmly resisted,” it stated.

The AWO expressed solidarity with the victim and family and called upon all concerned authorities to ensure speedy justice and send a clear message that crimes against children would not be tolerated, and that those responsible would face the full force of the law.

ANCSU:

The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has unequivocally condemned the alleged sexual and physical abuse of a minor girl by O Watimeren Jamir and his allege associates.

The Union believed that any act of violence, abuse or misconduct against women and children is unacceptable and stands in direct contradiction to the values, principles and responsibilities that the organization upholds

The Union appealed to the law-enforcing agencies and all concerned authorities to conduct a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation against O Watimeren Jamir and his alleged associates, ensuring justice is delivered in accordance with the law.

It also expressed solidarity to the victim and her family and urged that all necessary support and assistance be extended throughout the legal process.
