Results of the bye-election to Ward 11 (Chaara) of Chumoukedima Town Council, Ward 8 (Tsumang ‘B’) of Wokha Town Council and Ward 9 (Samba Ghoki) of Atoizu Town Council, which was held on June 16 2026 were declared on June 19.
NPF candidate Neichuu Kuotsu wins Ward No. 11 CTC
NPF candidate Neichuu Kuotsu emerged victorious by securing 326 votes, defeating BJP candidate Kezhangutuo Zhotso, who secured 236 votes in Ward No. 11 (Chaara) bye-election under Chumoukedima Town Council. Neichuu Kuotsu won the election with a margin of 90 votes.
The counting process was carried out peacefully under the supervision of election officials in the presence of observer RO and ARO and representatives of the contesting candidates and parties counting agents.
With the declaration of the results, Neichuu Kuotsu will take charge as the elected Councillor of Ward No. 11, Chümoukedima Town Council. The district administration and election authorities appreciated the cooperation extended by all stakeholders, political parties, and voters in ensuring the successful conduct of the by-election.
Aling Lotha elected Ward-8 Councillor, defeats BJP rival in Wokha by-election

NPF candidate Ar. Aling Lotha emerged victorious in the Ward-8 (Tsumang-B) by-election under the Wokha Town Council, securing a decisive mandate from the electorate.
According to the official results announced by the Returning Officer on Friday, Aling Lotha polled 296 votes, defeating BJP candidate Mhomo Humtsoe, who secured 259 votes. The NPF candidate won the contest by a margin of 37 votes.
The by-election witnessed the participation of 565 voters. Of the total votes cast, 555 were declared valid, while 10 votes were rejected during the counting process conducted under the supervision of election authorities.
Following the declaration of results, the newly elected councillor expressed gratitude to the residents of Ward-8 Tsumang-B for their trust and support. Describing the victory as both an honour and a responsibility, he pledged to work diligently for the welfare of the ward and contribute towards the overall development of Wokha town.
Aling Lotha stated that his professional experience as an architect would enable him to support developmental planning and infrastructure-related initiatives. He affirmed his commitment to addressing the needs of the ward while working collaboratively for the progress of the town.
The councillor-elect also acknowledged the efforts of party leaders, campaign workers and supporters, whose contributions, he said, played a significant role in securing the victory.
Independent candidate Inaka Z Chishi wins Ward No. 9 Atoizu Town Council by-election

The vote counting for Ward No. 9 (Samba Ghoki) under the Atoizu Town Council, Zunheboto district was held at District Civil Supply Office on June 19 with independent candidate Inaka Z Chishi emerging victorious.
A total of 188 votes were cast out of 195 registered voters. The election witnessed a close contest between G Shikavi Kiba of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), contesting on the Cock symbol, and Inaka Z Chishi, an independent candidate contesting on the Diamond symbol.
During the counting process, the first round was recorded 50 votes for the NPF candidate and 51 votes for the independent candidate. In the second round, the NPF secured 35 votes, while the independent candidate received 51 votes.
At the end of the counting, G Shikavi Kiba (NPF) secured 85 votes, while Inaka Z Chishi (Independent) polled 102 votes. One vote was declared invalid.
With a margin of 17 votes, Inaka Z Chishi was declared elected as the Ward Member of Ward No. 9 (Samba Ghoki), Atoizu Town Council.

State Election Commission, Nagaland acknowledged and commended the various election officials, including ROs, AROs, DCs, DCP/SPs, Election Observers, Sector Magistrates, Sector Commanders, Master Trainer, District Level Master Trainers, Polling and other election officials, support staff, security personnel and participating Departments for their role and support for the smooth and successful completion of the election process.
It also acknowledged and appreciated the participation from electors, media coverage from various media houses and personnel, due support from the State Government and Ward authorities as well as cooperation from relevant Civil Society Organizations.
The State Election Commissioner further congratulated all the winning candidates and also wished them the very best.
MCC ceases
Consequent upon the declaration of the results of the Bye-Election to Ward-11 under Chumoukedima Town Council, Ward-8 under Wokha Town Council and Ward-9 under Atoizu Town Council and the completion of the election process, the State Election Commission, Nagaland has notified that the Model Code of Conduct which came into operation from the date of the Notification of the Election Programme shall cease to be in force with effect from the midnight of June 19, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has congratulated Neichüu Kuotsu and Aling Lotha on their victory in the Urban Local Body bye-election to Ward No. 11, Chümoukedima Town Council and Ward No. 8, Wokha Town Council respectively.
The party expressed deep gratitude to all the voters of both wards for reposing their faith in the NPF candidates and for their overwhelming support.
The NPF expressed commitment to work for the people and said it would continue to uphold its core values of integrity, regional identity, and inclusive progress. The party assured that its elected representatives would prioritize civic amenities, public welfare, and responsive administration in their respective wards.
The NPF also thanked the voters of Ward No. 9, Atoizu Town Council for their strong support to NPF candidate Shikavi Kiba. The party also conveyed sincere thanks to the State Election Commission for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections.
