The meeting of the Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren on August 6, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
Delivering the welcome address, the Deputy Commissioner informed the members that MLA & Chairman, DPDB Peren, Namri Nchang, could not attend the meeting due to unavoidable engagements.
During the agenda discussion, the Deputy Commissioner informed the members that a mass social work would be conducted on August 7, 2026 at Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, as part of the preparations for the forthcoming Independence Day celebration. He requested all Heads of Departments to motivate their staff and ensure their participation for the successful conduct of the programme.
On the construction of government office buildings in the district headquarters, the Deputy Commissioner informed that Dobashis had been deputed to verify the status of the ongoing works. He also advised the Heads of Offices to regularly supervise and monitor the construction of their respective office buildings.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the order issued by the School Education Department regarding the closure of Government Primary School, Libemphai. During the discussion, the Senior SDEO informed the house that although the school had been functioning smoothly since its inception, no government teacher had ever been posted there and the institution had been managed by community teachers. It was further informed that despite the closure order, the school continues to function under community teachers with an enrolment of 26 students. After deliberation, the house decided to write to the department requesting a review of the closure order and the immediate posting of government teachers.
Speaking on disaster preparedness, the Deputy Commissioner observed that weather patterns have become increasingly unpredictable due to erratic climatic conditions. While Peren district has so far remained largely unaffected except in a few areas, he urged all members to remain vigilant and promptly report any disaster-related incidents to the concerned authorities.
The house also discussed the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), during which the Deputy Commissioner requested all Heads of Departments of line departments to actively participate and remain well-informed at the village level while preparing the GPDP. The board also approved the LADP/ICONIC Schemes for 6 Tening and 7 Peren Assembly Constituencies. The registration of the Affected Land Owner Association of National Highway-129A, Package-1A, was also approved.
Following the agenda deliberations, Chief Technical Officer, KVK Jalukie, L. Babita Devi, presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the activities and programmes of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalukie.
The Deputy Commissioner entrusted the Department of Economics & Statistics and the Education Department to deliver PowerPoint presentations on their respective activities and programmes.
Tseminyu:
The Tseminyu District Planning & Development Board was held on August 6 at DC’s Conference Hall, Tseminyu. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu Japheth Woch, NCS. The DC welcomed the members present and review the last meeting minutes.
During the meeting, the work distribution for Independence Day celebration were assigned to various departments and stakeholders in the district.

Assistant Urban Development Officer Tseminyu, L Rokovono presented the sensitisation on solid waste management 2026. In this regard, the DC apprised the members to ensure that timely preparation is required to come up with local action plans in the district on solid waste management, policy and strategy comprising of various stakeholders, departments, civil bodies, NGOs etc. He asserted that collectively responsible is necessary to have a proper waste management system in the district.
The department of horticulture gave a detailed presentation on their activities undertaken in the district. The meeting concluded with a vote of appreciation from the chair.
Longleng:
The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of August 2026, was held on August 6, at DPDB Hall, Longleng. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner & Vice-Chairma DPDB Longleng, W. Manpai Phom NCS, who welcome the board members present in the meeting.
In his introductory note, the chairman apprised the members that the district has faced a massive disaster after incessant rain cutting off road connectivity, Telecom line, affecting Villages, farmlands, forest and houses across the district. Several villages were cut off and inaccessible till date. He informed the Agri and Allied departments to collect the details assessment report of the damage farmlands and fields and destruction of Telecom line in the district.
After the review of the previous meeting minutes, the board deliberated on district awards, where ADC Longleng, Thungchanbemo Tungoe NCS, briefed the house on the new criteria setup by the committee members, which includes CSOs, NGOs and other Institutions for the awards besides the Government employees. The District Commandant, Home Guard, Chibeni Ezung, briefed the house regarding the need of Civil Defence in the district, and submitted a proposal for establishment of Civil Defence in the district. Executive Engineer Transmission Mokokchung, Er Hokaito Assumi, briefly highlighted on 132/133 KV substation at Pongo village. He informed the house that the department faced difficulties with the land owners during the time of vegetation clearance, and appealed the house to extend cooperation and support during such challenging times.
The house also deliberated on the proposal submitted by the Eastern Naga Women Organisation, for drainage infrastructure development. In this regard the chairman urged the concerned department to come up with a comprehensive field assistant of all blocks.
Assistant Programmer Coordinator DRDA, Y Tongpang Phom, presented the departmental programmes and activities of the department in the meeting. The house also discussed on preparation for the forthcoming India Independence Day celebration in the district. The house also decided to conduct a mass social work on 8th August 2026.
The chairman entrusted the Education Department to present their activities during the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the chair.
