Similar conditions are likely to continue on August 21, with thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rainfall at scattered locations across parts of the State. The activity is expected particularly over Chümoukedima, Kiphire, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto.
The NSDMA said cumulative rainfall in other districts during the period is expected to range between 18.15 mm and 41.12 mm.
The Authority cautioned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by lightning and brief gusty winds, while periods of rainfall may result in localized waterlogging, slippery roads and reduced visibility.
In view of the continuing monsoon activity, people living in landslide-prone and other vulnerable areas have been advised to remain particularly vigilant, especially in locations experiencing repeated rainfall.
Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution while travelling, particularly along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches.
The NSDMA urged residents to regularly monitor weather updates through the Safer Nagaland mobile application and NSDMA Weather Portal, follow official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.
