Keeping alive its tradition of visiting institutions on the occassion of Independence Day alive, members of Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited Kripa Foundation on August 15 and interacted with the inmates and staff of the centre.

During the visit, KP Ezung, Assistant Director, Kripa Foundation gave a brief history of the Foundation and highlighted the challenges faced by the rehabilitation centre. He said that the facility was being run solely through the monthly fees collected from inmates, with no financial assistance from the government.

Unlike Nagaland, he said that rehabilitation centres in Arunachal Pradesh and some neighbouring states receive full government support. Highlighting the high cost of detoxification medicines, he stated concern that many inmates were unable to afford the medication and, as a result, often avoided seeking treatment.

There are currently 22 inmates at the rehabilitation centre. The visitation team comprised KPC executives, senior members and regular members. The club also donated kitchen essentials and other amenities to the centre.
