A delegation of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), led by Vice President and In-charge of its Manipur State Unit Vipopal Kintso, visited Makhan Village on August 10 and met displaced Naga families currently taking shelter there, calling for expedited justice in the alleged killings of six Nagas.
The delegation, comprising Kintso along with Vice Presidents Kekongchim Yimkhiung and Angyie Konyak, interacted with the displaced families and took stock of their situation. The shelter is reportedly accommodating more than 200 people, including the wives and children of the six Nagas who were allegedly killed by members of the Kuki community.
Expressing anguish over the accounts shared by the victims’ families, the NPF delegation condemned what it described as the brutal killings and alleged mutilation of the victims’ bodies. The party said the incident had caused profound suffering to the affected families and demanded that those responsible be brought to justice.
The NPF expressed concern that more than three months had elapsed since the killings, while, according to the party, the names of persons allegedly involved in the abduction had already been submitted to law-enforcement authorities. It questioned the absence of what it termed “tangible action” against the alleged perpetrators.

The party called for an immediate and expedited investigation and prosecution, stressing that exemplary action against those responsible was necessary to uphold public confidence in the government, administration and the rule of law.
The NPF also appealed to the Government of Manipur to extend relief and rehabilitation to all people affected by the ongoing unrest in the State in a fair and impartial manner, irrespective of community or affiliation.
The party further urged the Government of India to demonstrate empathy towards the people of Manipur and take appropriate and constructive measures to help restore peace, security and harmony in the State.
