Watiyim: The COA had signed a warning letter to villagers against voting for Imna Along

A peaceful protest march was staged on Thursday at Watiyim junction under Mokokchung District by Tsurangkong Youth Front, Tsurangkong Senso Mungdang, Tsurangkong Watsu Mongdang to show their resentment following the threats from NSCN-IM.

The Central Administrative Officer (COA) of Ao region, Lanuwati Jamir, had allegedly signed letter warning villagers under 30 Alongtaki Assembly constituency not to vote in favour of BJP candidate and state BJP president Temjen Imna Along in the ensuing Nagaland Legislative Assembly polls which is to be held on 27 February 2023.

Meanwhile, the Tsurangkong range comprising of 8 Village also declared their unconditional support for BJP candidate Temjen Imna Along. The decision was taken in a joint meeting of Tsurangkong Senso Senden, Youth Front and Watsu Telongjem.

As per reports, Lanuwati Jamir, CAO AO Region of NSCN/GPRN was arrested by Assam Rifles stationed at Longtho from Watiyim village on Wednesday night and is under Police Custody.

A reliable source informed Nagaland Tribune that the 23 Assam Rifles had on Wednesday arrested three NSCN /GPRN members, including Jamir while performing routine checking of vehicles at Chandang-Lakhuni road.

12 bottles of IMFL MC Rum were also found in their possession.

In this connection a case has been registered at Longchem Police station.
