Amid the tussle between the Naga Mothers’ Association and some tribal organisations over the Nagaland Municipal Act 2006 and activities of the women’s body, the Angami Youth Organisation has barred NMA from organising any activities within the Angami jurisdiction.
In its statement, AYO has also made an appeal to the State Government, organisations and forums to desist from associating with NMA. It also urged not to give ‘any kind of platform to the individuals who claim to represent the Naga Mothers’ Association.’

The youth body, while acknowledging the contributions of women in the history of Nagaland, stated NMA too had once ‘championed the cause of women’. But since then, it is going ‘astray from its purposes and priorities, with repeated attempts and instances to sabotage the common interest of our people.’
Further, AYO reiterated its parent body Angami Public Organisation’s claim that NMA is being ‘hijacked by some few individuals’ who are carrying out ‘the organisation’s activities according to their whims and fancies.’
