The Second Edition of Wokha District Inter-High School Tournament in Badminton and Table Tennis was organised by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports on the Wednesday at the Indoor Badminton Stadium Wokha.

28 students from different schools under Wokha district participated at the event. Students were selected from their respective schools to participate at the Inter-High School Tournament after which the winners will participate and compete at the State level tournament.

An orientation on the New Education Policy 2020 and Vocational Education and Sports was presented by the Assistant Professor, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Wokha, Dr. Longshibemo Yanthan and the Principal of DIET Wokha, Chipeni Shitiri. The speakers explained that equal the NEP gives equal importance to sports as education and that sports will also be added in the school curriculum.

Stating that sports has open many career opportunities for the youngsters, they encouraged the players to play with the true spirit of sportsmanship and excel even at national level.
