Following a tragic accident that occurred on September 20 where eight young passengers were killed when the Sumo they were travelling in collided with a truck at Kandinu Area, condolences has poured in from organisations and dignitaries in Nagaland.
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), in a press release, expressed grief over the loss of eight precious lives in Kandinu.
“In this difficult hour, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends who have been profoundly affected by this tragedy. Though words cannot adequately express the sorrow we feel for the untimely and devastating loss of these young lives, we share in the grief as we remember their promising futures, their dreams, and their potential which have been tragically cut short,” stated the press statement issued by Medovi Rhi, President, NSF.
The Federation extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, friends, loved ones and to all those affected by this profound loss. May we all find solace in knowing that the dear departed souls now rest in eternal peace with our Almighty Father.

Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, in a post on X, also shared condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims “Deeply saddened by the news of the tragic accident that occurred in Tseminyu district and the loss of eight precious lives. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of all the victims in this incredibly difficult time. May their souls rest in peace!” stated the Post.
the deceased were- Imkongchila from Chessore, Shamator; Sentimongla Imsong from Yaongyimsem, Mokokchung; Nuksungienla from Changki, Mokokchung; Songukhumba Chang from Longra, Tuensang; Temsutoshi Jamir from Lakhuni, Mokokchung; Tiakala Ao from Mangmetong, Mokokchung: Nunenuo Talie from Rüsoma, Kohima and Imlienla from Lirmen, Mokokchung.

The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) also extended their deepest condolences and sympathies to the grieving families affected by the incident at Kandinu.
The pain and anguish caused by this accident are immeasurable, and our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this time of profound grief, stated AKM President Lanutoshi Aier and Satemmongba, General Secretary in a press statement.
“AKM joins the community in mourning the lives lost in this tragic accident and stands in unwavering solidarity with the affected families. In addition to our condolences, we call for renewed efforts to prioritize safe driving practices and take road safety measures to prevent such heart-wrenching incidents in the future. Every life is invaluable, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety of all travellers on our roads,” asserted the AKM.
