A viral video showing poor quality shoes supplied to Nagaland Police is causing outrage in the state.
Taking note of the video, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton who is also in-charge of Home Department has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma to verify the authenticity of the video and initiate an inquiry into the matter.
Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton taking to X wrote, “Concerned by the video circulating that suggests poor quality shoes have been provided to Nagaland Police personnel. Urging @DGP_Nagaland to verify its authenticity and take appropriate measures.
Ensuring the welfare and safety of our forces is paramount.”

DGP Sharma informed Nagaland Tribune that an inquiry will be initiated on Monday. Mentioning that the video is yet to be verified, Sharma said that the department “will get to the root of it.”
He also informed that the supplier has been called to the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Kohima tomorrow.
In the said video, a man can be seen unpacking a pair of hunting boots that he claims had been issued for the Nagaland Police personnel. The soles of the boots can be seen crumbling without difficulty as he pulls them with his fingers.
