The Rising People’s Party has reminded and urged the Nagaland Government to release the ex-gratia payments to the next to kin of the three deceased IRB personnel who died while carrying out election duty in Bihar.

RPP said that the State Government should release the payments within 10 days from the counting day, which is 14th June 2024, as per the directive of the Election Commission of India. It pointed out that the amount, Rs 15 lakh per deceased personnel/polling officers etc., would be reimbursed by the central government at a later date and therefore no expense is to be borne by the State Government.

“Regardless, the ECI directive specifically mentions that the state government is FREE to make its own ex-gratia payment from the state exchequer,” RPP stated.

The Rising People’s Party also urged the State Government to give gainful employment to the relatives of the deceased.

Further, the Party sought response from the Nagaland Government on the reduction of daily Travel Allowance and Dearness Allowance (TA/DA) from Rs 1500 to Rs 550 for police personnel deployed outside the State.

“The state government owes an appropriate answer to our brave jawans,” RPP stated.
