Repair works have begun on the National Highway 702 road between Asükhomi Village and Zunheboto Town.
The road between Asükhomi Village and Zunheboto town is prone to accidents due to its deplorable state.
The initiative to repair the road was voluntarily undertaken by Ghovishe A Kiba, BJP state executive member. The work began on Wednesday.
Speaking exclusively to Nagaland Tribune, Kiba said the ongoing repair of NH 702/A is between Asukho village to Zunheboto town, with the distance being approximately 16-17 kms. He added that the road is a life line to many sub divisions like Akuluto, Atoizu and Surhuto towns.
Kiba further said this particular road has been in a deplorable condition for a very long time and had become unfeasible for vehicles to ply through it. Even truck drivers have stopped ferrying goods to Zunheboto town from Maraini town, he pointed out.
He also said the bad condition of the road has led to inconveniences and suffering of patients, especially during medical emergencies.
Kiba further informed that the initiative for the road repair was taken along with 35 AC BJP mandals and the EE, PWD (NH Mokokchung division) collectively as a goodwill gesture.
