The three-day tournament which kicked off on 11 October and concluded on 13 October saw the United Fabled Club (UFC), Kiphire emerge as champions winning against the Energetic TEC Thakiye. The 1st Open Volleyball tournament was organised by Elite Frontier Club Kiphire.
The final score board read 16 TEC vs 23 UFC.

1st Runner-up: Team TEC, Thakiye
During the award ceremony, Thiaba (UFC) was awarded best setter, Ayibo (TEC) – best spiker, Team Battler Club, Yingphir village – best disciplined team.
Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, the president of Elite Frontier Club Kiphire, Thsisepi Sangtam, shared that the aim and purpose of this tournament felt stronger and deeper with the news of Kiphire youths getting involved in drug use. With such disheartening news, he along with the team came together to let the youths get involved in a constructive avenue like sports, in particular volleyball. The club hopes to continue organizing similar events in the future.

Akai, Captain of the champion team said, “My team were in thorough practice four months prior and we thank God for this victory, also appreciate the TEC, Thakiye for putting good energy on the Ground.”
Ayibo, Captain of TEC Thakiye, stated: “I and my team are blessed to be a part of this tournament, as the only team from my district other than Kiphire, it is a matter of great pride to represent my village and district.”
Appreciating the champion team, the TEC Thakiye captain wished to come together in the spirit of sportsmanship in the years to come.
“All together 16 teams participated in the tournament, and seeing this active and massive response from the youths and clubs, it gives more meaning to us, to organise such tournament even in the coming years,” Thsisepi stated.
The champion’s received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with trophy and medals. The first-runner up received Rs 20,000 along with medals. The semi-finalists received a cash award of Rs 2500 each.
