“In the first NE Olympic Games, Nagaland won 40 medals. In the second game, we have doubled it. This shows to us if we have the infrastructure and if we give the support, give the right platform to the youths, they will achieve, excel and they will bring laurels to the state,” the Chief Minister said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Northeastern states for trusting Nagaland and handing over the NE Olympic flag to the state to host the 3rd NE Olympic games.
He added that with all humility the state has accepted the flag and now it is for the state to start and not rest on the laurels. “This should be a beginning to the higher level. Your victory is a big challenge for all of us. This is a good beginning for us to start winning from the NE and getting prepared to go to the National Games,” he said.
Furthermore, he said the state will have to invest in infrastructures and should be able to make national and international standard arenas in order to give equal opportunity to the sportspersons.
