Nagaland University arranges exposure visit-cum-inputs distribution to IPM Model Village

An exposure visit-cum-inputs distribution of vegetable seeds and potato seed tuber was arranged at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus on December 12, 2025 under the Project “Establishment of crop-based model, IPM Villages for promotion of integrated pest management technologies in NEH region of India”.

The project, funded by ICAR- NRIIPM, New Delhi, aims to integrate IPM technologies tailored to regional cropping systems, emphasizing biointensive techniques, farmers’ participatory approaches, and climate resilient pest management tools. The project also aims to develop demonstration villages, centered on region specific crops. The initiative will foster capacity building, validate innovative IPM protocols, and ensure technology transfer through structured outreach programmes.

Farmers from adopted IPM Model village, Socunoma, visited the campus. Inputs like potato seed tuber, cauliflower, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, carrot, garden pea, tomato and watermelon were distributed to the farmers in the presence of Prof  KK Jha (Pro Vice-Chancellor incharge), Prof L Daiho (former Dean, SAS, NU), Prof S Banik (HoD, Department of Plant Pathology, SAS, NU), faculties and staff members. Prof Bireswar Sinha, Dr Kevineituo Bier, Dr Waluniba, Dr Noyingthung Kikon and Dr Herojit Singh are associated with the project. The program ended with a vote of thanks from the Project in-charge Prof Bireswar Sinha.
