The Basketball Association Mokokchung District (BAMD) in collaboration with the Nagaland Basketball Association will be organising its 1st Nagaland Open Basketball Championship from 13 to 16 December at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, basketball court, Mokokchung Town.
BAMD came together in 2020 and this collaborative tournament will be its first initiative since it was established.
Recognising the need for the sport of basketball to get better promotion among people, especially the youths, in the state, the basketball association from Mokokchung decided to organise its first championship.
The aim is to bring all basketball lovers in the state together and to encourage upcoming players to participate in and contribute towards the promotion of basketball.
According to BAMD, it is also hoped that the participation of teams from other districts like Kohima and Dimapur would give a boost of encouragement to the basketball players in Mokokchung district.

The Champions of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 60,000 while the runner-up will receive Rs 30,000.
The tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000 from the association.
BAMD has informed that teams from across all districts of Nagaland are warmly invited to take part in the tournament with a spirit of zeal and sportsmanship.
