All Government Departmental Offices in Tuensang to shut down as CWS second phase agitation intensify

Following the Department of Higher Education’s failure to fulfill the demands of the Chang Wedoshi Setshang ( Chang Students’ Conference), all government offices in Tuensang will be shut down from October 18.

CWS has initiated its second phase of agitation by shutting down all the Government Departmental Offices within the District from October 18, till the said demands are fulfilled.

C.Pongsu, President of CWS stated that on October 16 the Commissioner & Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Nagaland: Kohima invited the Conference for a video conference in the chamber of DC, Tuensang on where they had a thorough deliberation on the charter of Demands laid by the CWS in its Memorandum.

“As per the response it is learnt that everything is in the hands of Government to fullfill our charter of demand,so CWS is taking the second phase agitation,” said Pongsu adding that the students of Sao Chang college students have also extended support for the second phase agitation.

“It has been 18 years since the introduction of Science stream in Sao Chang college but the department has failed to appoint faculties and science lab as per the regulation adopted by Nagaland University on 2021,” stated Pongsu.

With Sao Chang college comprising of almost 680 students, the President stated, “whoever is responsible should not be gamble with the life and career of these innocent students.”

In a letter to the DC Tuensang, the Chang Wedoshi Setshang stated that the Department has failed to give any assurance or fulfil the demands.

The CWS has further Informed that the following departments shall be exempted:

  1. All the Schools & Higher secondaries
  2. District Administration, Tuensang
  3. Police Department
  4. Medical Department
  5. Fire and Emergency Department
