In his brief address Awangbow reiterated the stand of NPF Manipur unit that any arrangement for a different administrative unit is made in Manipur as being demanded by the Kuki-Zo community, then Naga areas should not be touched and Nagas should be consulted before any such arrangement.
Pointing out that the current Manipur crisis is due to the immigrants coming from other countries, Awangbow said, “There has been an abnormal increase of people and villages. Poppy plantation and drug trafficking that led to the crisis of Manipur.”
Further he clarified that the Naga MLAs have not signed any document endorsing the integrity of Manipur State. He said such allegations are baseless.
He also said that any solution to the Naga peace process should be on the basis of Framework agreement.
Achumbemo Kikon, in his short speech, underscored the importance of the occasion and said that the oath taking is a ceremony where the party gives its affirmation to its most trusted soldiers who agree to abide by its principles, aims and objectives. He also highlighted that NPF was formed by its pioneers during a very crucial period of Naga history with the vision of a regional party that truly represents the Naga people as well as our aspects, culture, tradition and identity and urged all members to keep the vision and principle of the party in their mind.
