Awareness programme on women’s health held at Tesen village

The Tesen Students’ Union in collaboration with the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Mbaulwa, successfully organized an Awareness Programme on Women’s Health on May 23 at Tesenlui Council Hall, Tesen Village, Peren.

The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among women and the general public on various important health issues affecting women in rural communities.

The awareness session covered several essential topics related to women’s health, including reproductive and sexual health, immunization, hypertension, mental health and medical termination of pregnancy. Medical staff and healthcare professionals from PHC, Mbaulwa, delivered informative presentations and interactive discussions highlighting the importance of maintaining proper health, early diagnosis, regular medical check-ups and healthy lifestyle practices.

Special emphasis was given to educating women on reproductive health and hygiene, the importance of child and maternal immunization and the growing concerns surrounding hypertension and mental health issues within society.

The speakers also sensitized the participants on safe medical practices and the legal and medical aspects concerning medical termination of pregnancy. Participants were encouraged to openly discuss health-related concerns and seek timely medical assistance whenever necessary.

The programme witnessed the participation of around 70 individuals from four neighbouring villages making the event both engaging and impactful. The attendees actively interacted during the session, raising questions and sharing experiences which contributed to a productive and insightful exchange of knowledge.

The Tesen Student’s Union expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the Primary Health Centre, Mbaulwa, for their remarkable service, dedication and unwavering support towards the welfare of the community. The Union further acknowledged the commitment of the healthcare staff in promoting awareness and strengthening healthcare outreach in the rural areas.

The programme concluded successfully with a shared commitment towards promoting better health awareness and building a healthier and more informed community.
