Confederation of Apoksah, Phoyisha & Phokhungri Area (CAPPA) has appealed the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to direct the contractors to execute the construction of the two-lane road from Akhegwo-Avakhung as per the detailed project report (DPR).

Writing to the Deputy General Manager, NHIDCL, Pfutsero, Nagaland, the CAPPA highlighted the discrepancies noted by its Office Bearers and along with the three Range Presidents during their tour of the whole stretch of the two- lane road construction from Akhegwo- Avakhung on 2nd September 2024. The CAPPA also asserted that it will not compromise on the quality-workmanship and timely completion of the road at any cost.

CAPPA President Z. Jungte Chugho and General Secretary C. Pituo, Phokhungri Area Public Organisation (PAPO) President P. Paratsu, Phoyisha Public Organisation (PPO) President R. Thuchu and Apoksah Range Public Organisation (ARPO) President S.N. Lale highlighted the following the matters for redressal:

  1. During the tour, it is found that the earth cutting in some portion did not reach the ROW points and are not done as per the DPR resulting to narrow roads.
  2. The road must only be constructed on the hard shoulder and not in the loose mud fillings.
  3. There must be a vehicle parking provision on both side of the road in all the habitat areas i.e. Towns/Villages.
  4. Proper drainages should be constructed and culverts should be constructed with proper outlet for free-flow of water to avoid soil erosion and sinking of road.
  5. The constructed culverts are found to be bumpy and rough, it appears to be more or less like a negative speed-breaker which causes huge inconveniences to the travellers. Therefore, the contractors must see that the road is levelled evenly after the construction/ installation of the culverts.
  6. Bench Cutting should be done in steep hilly areas.
