Chakhesang Mothers’ Association organises Awareness Programme on 33% Women Reservation

An awareness programme was conducted on 33% Women Reservation under the ULB election by the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) at Clock Tower, Phek on 4th June, 2024 informed DIPR.

Zhonelu Tunyi, President, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, in her speech said the creation of the 33% Women Reservation in Nagaland is to provide high opportunity for the womenfolk in every field including decision making policies. She also called upon the intending women candidates not to contest in the election for their own benefits but for the welfare of every women and give their best for the interest of the general public. Further, she also asked the intending candidates not to indulge in money power to gain voters but through honest and sincere means.

Additionally, she lauded that the greatest concern of CMA is to conduct a peacefully, free and fair Urban Local Bodies election in the district and appealed to all the candidates to ensure a healthy and peaceful contest that would bring development to the town.

Self-introduction and speeches were also delivered by eight intending candidates from 33% Women Reservation from 4 Wards of Phek Town.

During the programme, Kezevinuo Krome, Secretary, Chakhesang Mothers’ Association, read out the CMA Resolution. Speeches were also delivered by President, Phek Town Public Forum, Convenor Ward Chairman Forum, Head GB Union Phek Town and President, Phek Area Mothers’ Association.
