A special joint meeting of the Chang Khulei Setshang and the Ao Senden was held at the office of the former in Tuensang, where the two apex Hoho bodies vehemently condemned the alleged sexual crime against a minor girl at Dimapur by O Watimeren Jamir of Akangkoba and Tsuktimongba of Sungratsu Village.

The meeting extended solidarity to the victim and expressed hope that “speedy justice will be delivered” to her through the awarding of “befitting exemplary punishment” to the alleged culprits.

In the joint meeting declaration, the two apex bodies stated that any group or individual attempting to “stoke the fire of tribalism or communalism” by sharing or publishing defamatory, hateful, and maliciously constructed statements by taking advantage of the incident would be “viewed very seriously and dealt accordingly.”

The declaration stated that such actions could cause unnecessary tensions, hurt the sentiments of people, and threaten the “very social fabric” of the long-standing relationship between the communities, which has “stood the tests of times from the era of our forefathers.”

The two organisations further resolved that whatever incidents or challenges may arise, they would “remain steadfast, nurture, cherish and respect” their bond and friendship as before.

The declaration was signed by N Sipong, Vice President of Chang Khulei Setshang, and Marsanen Imsong, President of Ao Senden.
