As 214 wards across 24 municipalities across Nagaland vote today to elect the councillors after a gap of 20 years, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has requested all eligible voters to cast their votes in the crucial election.

“ULBs are crucial as they provide a platform for citizens’ participation in urban management, & development of our towns & cities”, he emphasised in a post on X. The CM also wished for a peaceful and successful polling day.

The 2024 ULB elections in Nagaland is being conducted with 33% reservation for women.

523 candidates, including 198 female and 325 male are in the fray while 64 candidates have already been declared uncontested winners.

Polling will however not take place in the Eastern Nagaland region after all 57 candidates who filed nominations to contest later withdrew from the race.
