A crucial consultative meeting was held today between the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO), and other civil society organizations (CSOs) at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, to discuss their next steps following a 48-hour deadline set for action on the October 10 abduction and extortion case involving the NSCN (K) Niki faction.
The house resolved to form an Interim Dimapur-based Youth Tribal body to serve as a unified voice until a full-fledged Tribal Youth body can be established. This interim body will operate in consultation with tribal apex bodies based in Dimapur.
Key resolutions from the meeting include:
1) The house resolved to immediately form an Interim Dimapur based Youth Tribal body, until a full-fledged Dimapur based Tribal Youth body is formed in consultation with Dimapur based Tribal apex bodies.
2) The house fully supports the formation of Nagaland based Youth Organisation as resolved at Kohima on 6th August Public rally.
3) Demand the concern authority for installation of CCTV coverage in and around Dimapur.
4) Demand the removal of designated camps from the public area at the earliest.
5) Unanimously support the Naga Council Dimapur stand on One government one tax.
Additionally, the organizations have decided to submit a representation to the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group, requesting urgent intervention in the abduction and extortion case. Nineteen CSOs and Dimapur-based Youth bodies have endorsed this move, and the group has issued a 48-hour deadline, starting today, for the Chairman to take action against the culprits involved.

The meeting emphasized the importance of addressing the matter directly to the Ceasefire Monitoring Group, as the abduction incident represents a breach of ground rules established between the Government of India and Naga Political Groups (NPG).
When asked about their next steps should the 48-hour deadline pass without action, the organizations stated that the newly formed Interim Dimapur Youth Tribal body will take collective decisions. “We will come stronger, representing not only one community but all Naga communities,” a spokesperson said, adding that several groups have expressed their intent to join the movement.
Responding to queries about police intervention at the NSCN camp, the spokesperson mentioned that while they had heard of joint surveys and raids conducted by police in collaboration with the Ceasefire Supervisory Board, there had been no official communication on the matter.
