District Administration Noklak reaches out to remote villages with awareness drive and medical camp

The District Administration Noklak, led by Deputy Commissioner, P Mono Khiamniungan along with Sub Divisional Officer SDO Noklak, and officials from Medical and Social Welfare Departments conducted an official visit to Kingjung and Wui villages on July 4.  The officials interacted with residents, addressed developmental concerns, and encouraged greater community participation in government initiatives. The visit also featured awareness programmes by the Social Welfare Department and a medical camp by the Health Department.

DC Noklak, P Mono Khiamniungan urged the villagers to cooperate in implementing various government schemes and stressed the importance of unity for the overall development of the community. He appealed to the Village Council and the public to extend full cooperation to Census officials to ensure the successful completion of the Census exercise.

He  encouraged students to actively contribute to the wellbeing and development of their community. He appreciated the encouraging enrolment of students in the village primary school and urged them to pursue education with dedication.

The DC appreciated Wui village’s traditional pottery-making practice, which has been preserved and passed down through generations. Highlighting the cultural significance of the craft, he encouraged the villagers to continue safeguarding their rich heritage and to promote it for future generations.

SDO (Civil) Vikhoto Richa highlighted the significance of the Thonoknyu Aspirational Block, under which both Kingjung and Wui villages fall. While he appreciated the Rank one position which the block is holding, he encouraged the for more community cooperation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining proper documentation while applying for various government schemes so that eligible beneficiaries can fully avail themselves of the benefits.

During the interaction, villagers of Wui shared several grievances, particularly concerning poor road connectivity, challenges in the education sector and other developmental issues, and requested the administration’s intervention.

As part of the programme, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Sakhi One Stop Centre, and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) under the Social Welfare Department conducted awareness sessions on their respective services and welfare programmes.

The Medical Department also organised a medical camp, providing health check-ups and basic healthcare services to the villagers.
