District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in Nagaland joined the Constitution Day by organizing various programmes on November 26.
Mokokchung
Mokokchung DLSA celebrated Constitution Day today at the District Court, honoring the foundational document that upholds democracy and justice in our nation.The event featured a keynote address from the Secretary, Julian Sitlhou, who emphasized the critical role of the Constitution in safeguarding fundamental rights and the commitment to providing access to justice for all citizens.
Chairman, Victo Sema read the Preamble of the Constitution, reinforcing the enduring values and principles that guide our nation.
The programme was attended by members of the LADC team, Panel lawyers, PI staff, the Prosecutor, practicing Advocates, and members of the Bar Association.
Zunheboto
Constitution Day was celebrated at Government High School, South Point East, Zunheboto, Nagaland. Easter H Yepthomi Retainer lawyer ZDLSA briefed about the framework of the Constitution. It was followed by mass reading of The Preamble.
Phek
Phek District Legal Services Authority observed the Constitution Day at District Court Conference Hall. The programme was chaired by Sekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA. The preamble was read by everyone present to pledge recommitment to the ideals of the preamble. Vethothi Vero Retainer lawyer Phek DLSA spoke on the significance of observing constitution day, a day of immense importance in our democratic journey.
The observance of Constitution Day is not just a formality; it is a moment for reflection, awareness, and gratitude. It allows us to revisit the foundation of our democracy and appreciate the vision of our founding fathers, especially Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution.The Constitution is not merely a document; it is the soul of our democracy. It embodies the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. It ensures that every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, or religion, has a voice and a right to live with dignity.
Observing Constitution Day is significant because It reminds us of our rights and duties: The Constitution grants us fundamental rights, but it also imposes duties. As responsible citizens, it is our duty to uphold these principles and contribute to nation-building. It strengthens our commitment to democracy: In a world where democratic values are often under threat, Constitution Day reinforces our belief in the power of democracy and the rule of law. It educates the younger generation: This day provides an opportunity to instill in young minds the importance of constitutional values and the sacrifices made to secure our freedom and rights.
It celebrates our diversity: The Constitution is a unifying force that binds our diverse nation together, promoting harmony and inclusiveness.
The program was attended by Smti. Tucuno Vamuzo, NJS, chairperson, Phek DLSA, Zhevi Swu APP, PI staffs, courts staffs, PLVs of Phek DLSA and Advocates from Phek District Bar Association.
Peren
Peren District Legal Services Authority observed the Constitution Day at the Govt. Higher Secondary School, Jalukie Town. The Program was conducted with the students where in WV Patton spoke about the significance of the Constitution Day and the Panel lawyer Italang Ramlia and Kewithinwang hightlited the salient features of the Constitution and the Fundamental Duties under the Indian constitution.

Walkathon with playcards to convey message on Legal Services-Eradication of Drug abuse and addiction, child abuse and Gender Based Violence was organised by WDLSA under the aegis of NALSA in collaboration with District Administration and department of Social Welfare -District hub for empowerment of women under BBBB in collaboration with NSRLM and stakeholders . Smti.Nino Iralu ,District & Sessions Judge /Chairperson WDLSA while delivering her keynote address call on the Stakeholders to contribute in the form of identifying and rehabilitating the drug addicts who are in tire Need of our care and attention.Our District is in need of Rehab and treatment centres, wherein the Stakeholders can take accord. N.Ekonthung Kikon,DPO/DNO Mission Shakti spoke on the purpose of purpose of the walkathon and 16 days Aactivism against gender based violence. Renbomo Ezung flagged off the Walkathon.

Mon District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) celebrated Constitution Day at the District Court Mon. The event, was led by Chief Judicial Magistrate B Peter Resu, aiming to raise awareness about the Indian Constitution and its significance in Nagaland. The celebration covered an overview of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s contributions as the architect of the Indian Constitution. Participants also learned about the rights and responsibilities enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The event explained how the courts draws powers and are functioning to deliver justice, protect people’s rights, and uphold the law. The event successfully promoted a better understanding of the justice system and encouraged discussions on important legal and constitutional issues.
Kohima
Kohima DLSA observed Constitution Day at District Court complex along with the court staff, Advocate ,PLs and PLVs. The program was chaired by Wokono Yhoshii NJS, Secretary Kohima DLSA whereby she highlighted the Preamble of the Constitution. The participants read out the pledge of the preamble lead by Smti. Duvelu Vero NJS, Chairman Kohima DLSA. The program was followed by interaction with the PLs and PLVs by the Secretary.
Longleng
Longleng DLSA observed Constitution Day at Victory Hostel. Panel Lawyer P Monyei Phom, highlighted the Preamble of the Constitution and led the participants in ‘ Pledge of Preamble’ . Panglang Y Phom, Panel Lawyer enlightened the students on Fundamental Duties and Basic Child Rights. In conclusion PLs & PLVs demonstrated “Good Touch & Bad Touch”. PLVs Manau and Yingli participated the said programme.
Dimapur
The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority observed the Constitution Day at the council hall, Sunrise Colony, Dimapur on the 26 of November. The programme started with the reading of the preamble of the Constitution of India. Panel lawyer Thiuswangwilu give a talk on significance of the Constitution and fundamental duties. She also highlighted about Legal Services Authority, its role. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, POCSO Act and Lok Adalat. The programme was attended by Youths and Women of the colony.
