Eight Drug Peddlers Arrested by Mokokchung Police

Mokokchung: Mokokchung Police urges public to cooperate and share any information that could aid in their efforts to tackle drug-related crimes

The Mokokchung Police have conducted a successful operation, resulting in the arrest of eight drug peddlers involved in the illegal drug trade. The arrests were made on two separate occasions, on 21st July and 24th July 2023.

The individuals apprehended by the authorities are identified as follows:

Aslam Khan, also known as Bendangmongba, Address: Dilong Ward

Longyachung (Age: 49), Address: Penli Ward

Tongpok Imsong (Age: 36), Address: Tongdentsuyong Ward

Sentimongba (Age: 40), Address: Alichen

Sunjemkaba (Age: 32), Address: Artang Ward

Tiakumzuk, Village: Akhoya

Jangdangonen (Age: 25), Village: Akhoya

Imlitoshi (Age: 53), Village: Akhoya

The arrests were made in connection with the possession of a substantial quantity of suspected Brown Sugar (Sunflowers), amounting to 35.56 grams. Brown Sugar is a dangerous narcotic, and its distribution and sale are illegal under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The Mokokchung Police have registered two separate cases in this regard:

Case No. 0016/2023 under Section 27 of the NDPS Act

Case No. 0017/23 under Sections 21 (b)/27 of the NDPS Act read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Superintendent of Police for Mokokchung has commended the efforts of the police personnel involved in the operation and emphasized the commitment of the police department to curb drug-related activities in the region. Such operations are part of the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens.

The suspects will be subjected to a thorough investigation, and the legal process will proceed accordingly to bring them to justice.
