First health camp held at Noklak’s Jejeiking village

Indian Red Cross Society(IRCS), Noklak Branch in collaboration with District Health Society, Noklak organized Health camp at Jejeiking village under Noklak district on June 6. The health camp is the first of its kind to be held at Jejeiking village with 67 patients availing medical benefits.

In his address, Chief Medical Officer, Noklak, Dr Victor Lam spoke about the causes of common illness and diseases mainly Scrub Typhoid, which is mainly prevalent in Noklak region.

He further stated that there has been a significant rise in the number of individuals at risk of high blood pressure, which may lead to strokes especially within the two years. He offered solutions concerning the medical treatments available.

He also stressed on the schemes which can be availed for the welfare of the community with a specific focus on the pregnant mothers.

Victor also assured a proposal for a Sub-Centre to avail this year (2025) in the village. While extending appreciation to the IRCC, he credited the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) which is the only channel of Health Care service in the village.

Further, Dr Victor urged the community leaders to form Village Health Committee.

Managing Committee member, IRCS Noklak District Branch, who is also the headmaster of Holy Angel School, Noklak, Joseph KV highlighted the purpose and functions of IRCS. He stressed about the voluntary service carried out by the society in Noklak district in terms of medical aid and disaster relief in times of need.

Village Council Chairman, Jejeiking village, Langchang, while noting that the village do not have access to medical care and education, he expressed his appreciation to the IRCS and District Health Society(DHS) Noklak team for the commendable service rendered to the community which is the first of its kind in Jejeiking village since ten years after it’s recognition.

Blankets were donated to each family while the Health Camp was kicked off with a prayer by Munow, Pastor, Baptist Church, Jejeiking village who pronounced the invocation. The program was chaired by Horney Secretary IRCS, Noklak Districr Branch, S Lasang Khiamniungan.
