The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of six Naga men whose dismembered bodies were reportedly recovered by state security forces in Kangpokpi district of Manipur on June 10, condemning the incident as a gruesome and inhumane act of violence.

In a statement, the FNR denounced the killings and said it was deeply saddened by the tragic news. The Forum noted that the recent release of 14 Kuki individuals in Senapati district on June 9, secured through the tireless efforts of the United Naga Council (UNC) with the support of its federating tribal units, the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), and the Naga Women Union, marked a moment of deep commitment to peace and reconciliation.

“Expectations were raised that this would be followed with a reciprocal act of releasing the 6 Nagas. Any such expectations were only met with grief,” the FNR stated.

The FNR extended deepest condolences to the bereaved members and the community.

It urged the Government of Manipur to uphold the rule of law and ensure an impartial investigation for justice to be delivered at the earliest time.

The FNR further called upon responsible Kuki and Naga leaders to immediately end the violence and forge a way where the root differences are identified and addressed through dialogue.
