Government Primary School, Lengnyu upgraded to Middle School

The Government Primary School of Lengnyu village under Noklak district which was established in the year 1963 was upgraded to Government Middle School on April 10. A memorandum for school building for GMS section, teachers appointment and school fencing was submitted to MLA Benei M Lamthiu.

MLA & DPDB Chairman Noklak, GoN Benei M. Lamthiu, in his address, emphasized on  the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the government to ensure better development in the region. Acknowledging the increasing number of students traveling out of the district for education, Lamthiu assured for improved educational infrastructure, including the establishment of colleges and high schools within the district. With the  upgradation of the Middle School, hopes for the  increment of students’ enrollment. The MLA also acknowledged the dedication of teachers who continue to render their service despite various challenges. Furthermore, Lamthiu extended his appreciation to Education Advisor Kekhrielhou Yhome and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for fulfilling the long-standing need for the school’s upgradation. Earlier, Lamthiu unveiled the monolith in the presence of officers from various departments and Village leaders and NGOs.

Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba emphasizing that education being the foremost important tool, urged the co-ordination between Government and the community for smooth functioning of the school. He appealed on introducing vocational trainings and skill development programs among the school students for wider learning. The DC also stressed on conducting Parents Teacher Interacting for better understanding of their childrens’ all round development.  He also advised on having a sense of belongingness by taking proper care of the government property.

EAC Panso, Bangjunglemba encouraged the  students to be disciplined, respectful, and competitive. He praised the School Management Board for its leadership and urged stronger collaboration with parents and the community. Bangjunglemba also stressed on the need to improving education quality and increasing enrollment in government schools. The achievement was hailed as a stepping stone toward future growth and opportunities for both the school and the village.

Sub Divisional Education officer, Noklak, Hekuto Sema spoke on the importance of community involvement in the development of local schools. He noted that while the government has upgraded GPS to GMS and provided necessary support, sustainable progress depends on active community participation. He urged the community not to rely solely on the representatives but to take creative initiatives for the school improvement. Stating that the goal of upgrading to a Government High School (GHS) is achievable with a collaborative effort which can set a positive example for neighbouring villages.

KSU President Shangchiu in his short speech mentioned that Lengnyu is one of the pioneers in education. While appreciation the school upgradation, he acknowledged the ongoing issue of teacher shortages. He urged the entire community—parents, the church, and village leaders—to share the responsibility of strengthening the school, rather than leaving it solely to teachers and students. Commending the unity shown by the people of Lengnyu, Shangchiu  called on everyone to view this milestone as the beginning of greater achievements.

Earlier the program was chaired by Chonglio T and Mongtham P, invocation was pronounced by S. Langshe, Chairman, Lengnyu Village Council, special song was presented by Pushia and friends , vote of thanks by Pungom T, SMC Chairman and benediction by Mongthsoa T, Youth Pastor LBC, followed by folk dance as part of the upgradation celebration.
