HSLC 2024 results:15,588 students qualify NBSE’s Class 10 exam; only 17% Repeaters find success

15,588 students who sat for the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2024 conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) have passed, the Board announced on Friday.

With the overall pass percentage at 71.87 per cent, the performance of students has slightly improved from 2023’s 70.23 per cent.

21689 candidates of which 10,109 are male and 11,580 are female, appeared the examination that was conducted from 12th February to 6th March 2024.

The pass percentage of all schools run by government is 48.55 per cent while private schools continued to do better with 86.77 per cent of their pupils passing HSLC 2024.

Mhachilo Yanthan of Christian Higher Secondary School, Dimapur is NBSE’s Topper 2024 with 98.83 per cent. She is followed by fellow girls Ketsino Jane Frances of St. Paul School, Phesama in Top 2 with a score of 98.67 per cent and Pabitra Deb of Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur in Top 3 with 98.50 per cent score.

As the State celebrates the success of those who qualified the exam, it is pertinent to point out the worrisome pass percentage of HSLC exam Repeaters. Out of 2083 candidates who appeared the examination, only 366 have passed, making the pass percentage a mere 17.57 per cent. 975 male candidates had sat for the examination but only 185 have qualified while only 181 out of 1108 female candidates got through.
