The inaugural programme for the upgraded park, Imagi.Land was held on 26 November at Kisama with Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister as the special guest of the event and Khehovi Yepthomi, Advisor, Tourism of Art & Culture and DPDB chairman as the guest of honour.
Addressing a gathering at the inaugural function, Khehovi Yepthomi, encouraged the community to reap the benefits of the recreational area to congregate and enjoy nature. He also appealed for the proper maintenance of the park through community engagement and support.
He appealed to all the residents to share responsibility in maintaining the park and to set good examples for others to follow.
Yepthomi said the park is not only an exciting upgrade and addition during the Hornbill Festival but also something to look forward to for many parents to entertain their children outside of organized activity like schools, as green spaces offer numerous mental, physical and social developmental benefits making individuals more ecologically aware and responsible citizens.
“A simple walk in the park can significantly improve our moods, our ability to concentrate,” he added.
Yepthomi acknowledged the hard work and efforts of the Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) for the development of small pocket parks and children playgrounds cropping up in different corners of the city by innovatively transforming waste spaces and reimagining them to purposeful environments and green spaces.
He also congratulated the Tourism Department and the key players for its successful implementation.
Earlier, Visato Yhoshü Associate Pastor of Union Baptist Church (UBC) invoke God’s presence; Veyielo Duolo, Additional Director of Tourism Department also address the gathering in lieu of Keduosieü, Director.
A special song was performed by Penthungo Kikon; vote of thanks was delivered by Kezhazelhou Ltu, Executive Director & Founder imagi.Nation and the event was hosted by Kako Yhoshü.
