Indian Army, Manipur Police recover arms and ammunitions from Imphal East

Imphal: Security forces remain vigilant and committed to early restoration of peace in Manipur, says MoD

The Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint search operation in Gwaltabi village in Imphal East district of Manipur leading to the recovery of a substantial cache, informed the PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.

The PRO said that the operation was initiated after the security forces received specific information about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Gwaltabi village, Imphal East district of Manipur.

The recovered cache included one Improvised Long Range Mortar (Pompi), one 303 Rifle, two 12-bore guns, two hand grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.

The recoveries have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal, the MoD spokesperson said. It also affirmed that the security forces remain vigilant and committed to an early restoration of peace and harmony in the state of Manipur
