The monthly meeting of the Kohima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held at DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima on Thursday where the winners of the Village Adoption Committee (VAC) were awarded. The sale of alcoholic beverages in Kohima was also discussed.
In the meeting, Advisor, Prisons and Printing & Stationery and Chairman, Kohima DPDB, Er. Kropol Vitsu requested the MLAs of Kohima District to come up with the desirable mechanism and work plans to be done on priority to move forward in all round developmental activities and also urged the members of the DPDB to be dedicated, active and cooperative in any given opportunity for the developmental activities.
10 Northern Angami I was adjudged as the winner the Village Adoption Committee 2022-2023 while the first runner-up and second runner-up were awarded to 8 Western Angami and 14 Southern Angami I respectively. The winning teams also shared their experiences and challenges while performing the developmental activities. Suggestions were also presented, and requests were made to the DPDB for follow up actions.
Rise of sale of Korean beverages which contains high percentage of alcohol in the market in and around Kohima city was highlighted to the house by Addl. SP Kohima, Relo Aye and for which the Administration, Kohima Municipal Council and Police have decided to take up the issue immediately for its early redressal.
Administrator, Kohima Municipal Council, T. Lanusenla Longkumer gave a presentation on “Meri LiFE Mera Swachh Shehar Campaign,” a cleanliness drive, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle which is underway from 15 May till 5 June 2023. She said that under the campaign, one RRR centre will be setup in every ward in the city to collect plastic items, old books, used clothes and footwear and any other items which will be further refurbished, reused or processed.
Longkumer requested the members to co-operate in spreading the message to all concerned and contribute the said items to the volunteers like NGOs, SHGs, Swachh TULIP intern, RWA members and citizen volunteers.

Further, during the meeting, applications received for Society Registration from Japfü Christian College Alumni Association; Don Bosco College Kohima Alumni Association; Kohima Ao Baptist Church and Kohima Village Students’ Union were deliberated and the same was approved and recommended for further necessary action.
