The Mokokchung Senso Kaketshir Telongjem celebrated its Cultural Day program on 2 August 2023 with immense enthusiasm at Arjuma, Mokokchung Village ground. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region and aimed to instil a deep sense of appreciation and awareness among students for their customs and traditions passed down by their forefathers.
The students were divided into four groups, and a series of traditional sports competitions took place, bringing forth the essence of their ancestral practices. Events such as the log car-race, bamboo climbing, cock-fight, traditional fire-making, and paddy husking thrilled participants and spectators alike.
The primary objective of the Cultural Day program was to reinforce the significance of the region’s cultural identity and heritage.

Guru J Nungsang Longkumer, the esteemed guest speaker, addressed the students, urging them to uphold and respect their cultural values in the face of widespread westernisation and modernisation.
Guru Longkumer emphasised that the world’s rapid modernisation threatens to erode the precious traditional cultural values of their community. He passionately urged the students to value and embrace their rich cultural heritage, which serves as a source of pride, purity, and a unique identity, one that cannot be taken or stolen away from them.
The event not only celebrated the customs and traditions cherished by their forefathers but also served as a poignant reminder of the need to protect and preserve their cultural roots in the ever-changing world. As the sun set on the Cultural Day celebrations, the students left with a renewed sense of pride in their heritage, determined to carry forward the torch of their ancestors’ legacy for generations to come.
