Nagaland Governor La Ganesan conducts cleanliness drive at Raj Bhavan

Kohima: Governor urges all to make cleanliness a habit and part of their daily lifestyle

In the run up to the Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2,  a cleanliness  drive was undertaken  under the supervisions of Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan at the Raj Bhavan, Kohima on September 30. Responding to the call of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a nationwide cleanliness drive “Shramdaan for Swachhata”, the drive was conducted in the compounds and the areas in the vicinity of Raj Bhavan.

The cleanliness drive was undertaken a day ahead, in view of October 1 being a Sunday.

The Governor, in his message, stressed on cleanliness which can prevent most of the major health problems, reminding of the popular adage, “Cleanliness is next to godliness”. Therefore he urged the people to maintain cleanliness in their homes, surrounding and streets to prevent the diseases and illnesses. “This cleanliness drive is only a symbolic one. I call upon the people to make cleanliness a habit and part of their daily lifestyle,” stated the Governor.

Rajesh Soundararajan, Secretary to Governor,  officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan and security personnels, DC Kohima Shanavas and his officers,  KMC Administrator and staff and other officials also participated in the cleanliness drive.
