In an effort to streamline systematic management and administration of football and football/futsal tournaments in the state, and in compliance with the AIFF guidelines, the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), has issued a set of recommendations to all its member DFAs, organizers of tournaments, clubs, officials and players.
The recommendations, according to the NFA, are for strict compliance during the new football season 2025-26. The key guidelines are as follows:
- No AIFF-registered player, coach, or referee should be permitted to participate in unauthorised tournaments that do not have permission from the State Association and their affiliated district
- If any of the state, district, club, or academy should flag these issues to AIFF, and simultaneously to the state, then the state should take strong action against those players, cooches, or referees found to be guilty, as per the constitution and other by-lows of the respective State Association

- All Mas are advised to develop and implement their own tournament registration policies. If any organisation or private body intends to conduct a tournament in a particular district or state, they need to reach out to their respective district and/or state association for due permission or registration that can be accepted on the following conditions:
- Only registered clubs/academies can participate
- Only players registered in the registered clubs can represent the teams.
- Only licensed referees should be officiating the games
- Organising bodies should provide the full security for the players/officials.
The Association also reiterated the previous directive to its member District Football Associations on “Private Football tournaments and procedures to be followed” communicated on November 11, 2022.
“These decisions are hereby communicated in view of the presence of many unauthorised and unregistered football tournaments across the state and in the best interest of protecting the interests of the Association and its member DFAs, clubs, footballers, officials and all stakeholders of the game concerned,” stated the NFA.
