NSSA bids farewell to Mhathugn Tungoe, welcomes 55th NSS batch

A farewell programme in honour of Secretary, School Education, Mhathung Tungoe cum welcome ceremony for the 55th NSS Batch and General Body Meeting, was held at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima on May 27.

Delivering his farewell message, Mhathung Tungoe described retirement as a transition from one stage of life to another. Also welcoming the newly inducted 55th NSS Batch, he remarked that the occasion symbolized the old generation making way for the new generation to carry forward the responsibilities of public service.

He encouraged the junior officers to work with dedication, and with zeal, emphasizing that commitment and strong work ethics are essential in government service. He cautioned that officers who lack dedication and professionalism may eventually be sidelined and become dispensable in the system.

Advising the new batch to remain hardworking and sincere in every department entrusted to them, he urged them to strive to become indispensable assets to the government and their respective departments. He also reminded the officers to maintain integrity and impartiality while discharging official duties, particularly in handling office matters and files.

He stressed that officers should never become obligated to any individual in the course of their duties, stating that personal obligations could affect one’s ability to make fair and sound decisions. He concluded by encouraging the officers to uphold honesty, discipline, and professionalism throughout their careers in public service.

Speaking on behalf of NSSA during the farewell programme, P. Nungsangwapang Jamir, Secretary, Planning & Transformation, described the occasion as both emotional and meaningful as it marked the farewell of a senior colleague while also welcoming the new 55th NSS Batch into service. He encouraged the newly inducted officers to adapt to the work culture of the Secretariat and uphold discipline, punctuality, and dedication in service.

He reminded the new batch that government service requires commitment, teamwork, and a willingness to learn, adding that rules and regulations would serve as their guiding principles throughout their careers. Stressing the importance of unity and cooperation among officers, he urged them to maintain the spirit of service and uphold the values of the Association.

Reflecting on his years of service alongside Tungoe, he fondly recalled the challenges and experiences they shared over the decades. He praised the retiring officer for his sincerity, calm leadership, dedication, and dependable presence, stating that his contributions and guidance had greatly benefited colleagues and the department alike.

He further noted that despite the many challenges faced during their years in service, Tungoe remained committed and hardworking, setting an example for younger officers to follow. On behalf of NSSA, he conveyed heartfelt gratitude and wished the retiring officer a happy retired life ahead.

Neiserü Miachieo, Deputy Secretary & President, NSSA, expressed gratitude to Mhathung Tungoe for his dedicated service and valuable contributions during his tenure. He conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the association and wished the retiring officer a healthy and fulfilling retired life.

V Angela Sophie, Deputy Secretary & Vice President NSSA chaired the program and short speech on behalf of 55th batch was delivered by Azizu Marcel I Sangtam SA. The programme also included self introduction of the newly inducted 55th NSS Batch and special song was presented by the 55th NSSA batch and prayer for blessings was pronounced by L Vutoli Chophi, Section Officer, NSDMA. The event was followed by the General Body Meeting in the second session.
