The Ongpangkong Mungdang hosted a ceremony to honor the Züngket Naklu (Meritorious Achievers), recognizing individuals from the Ongpangkong range who have excelled in the Indian Civil Services. A total of 12 Meritorious Achievers were awarded.
Dr. P. Kilemsüngla in her brief exhortation extended heartfelt congratulations to the achievers, emphasizing the blessings and hard work that brought them to this milestone. Acknowledging the loss of two among them, she remarked, “We wish that all 12 of them were here with us today, but we believe that those who are in heavenly abode are still part of this moment in spirit and we always remember their good deeds.”
Dr. Kilemsüngla urged the civil servants to uphold truth and integrity in their service to the nation, describing them as crucial bonds in the Indian Administration. She said, “You have been selected among countless competitors to serve the country through peace and unity. Wherever you go, people will look to you for guidance and leadership. The knowledge and wisdom you possess must be used to uplift the people and strengthen our country.”
Addressing the growing challenges of corruption, she highlighted how it hampers governance, stating, “The government is doing its part, but the benefits often fail to reach the people because of corruption. Fighting against it is crucial. Truth is missing in many aspects of life today, but genuine administrators—our ‘Züngketers’—must stand firm in integrity and truth.”
Dr. Kilemsüngla also stressed the importance of community support, saying, “Even if you stand for truth, it will be ineffective without the people’s backing. Together, we must support our leaders who choose to fight corruption and uphold justice. Victory is assured when one stands firmly in truth.”
Reflecting on the Naga context, she praised the Ao community’s contributions to education, religion, and sports, attributing much of its progress to the impact of Christianity. She challenged the audience to examine their lives and commitment to purity and truth.
Dr. Kilemsüngla concluded by encouraging the officers to remain humble before God and to embrace a spirit of excellence and leadership. Expressing hope for the future, she remarked, “I am confident that more officers will rise in the coming years to take our society forward with firm and responsible leadership.”
In his welcome address, Lipokmeren Jamir, President of the Ongpangkong Mungdang (Conference), expressed pride in the accomplishments of Ongpangkong men and women who have achieved milestones in the Indian civil services. “The success of these individuals makes all of us in Ongpangkong proud,” he remarked, emphasizing the region’s ongoing contributions to the Ao community and beyond.
Calling for collective responsibility, Jamir urged the parents present to continue encouraging their children toward excellence. “The parents here today play a crucial role in motivating the younger generation, and the students present must also commit to supporting noble causes,” he stated.
He further highlighted the need for unity and strength within the community to lead with wisdom and knowledge. “Let Ongpangkong people be given the strength, wisdom, and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the Ao community and for a better future,” he concluded.
