District officials led by Deputy Commissioner, Peren, Hiazu Meru visited Ahthibung Town under the IEC Campaign “Jan Bhagidari – Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle” on May 26 with the objective of sensitizing the public on various government welfare schemes and services available for citizens, particularly those residing in far-flung and remote areas.

In his address, Haizu Meru stated that the purpose of the officials’ visit was to bring government services directly to the people instead of requiring villagers to travel to the district headquarters. He said various departments had set up stalls at the camp to assist the public and encouraged the gathering to interact with officers and staff and also clarify their doubts and queries regarding welfare schemes and services.

Highlighting that Peren is a backward district, the DC said that since assuming office, he has prioritized education, health, and economy as key focus areas. He called upon the public, community leaders, and officials to work collectively towards improving these sectors for the overall development of the district.

Expressing concern over unemployment among educated youths in Nagaland, he stated that government jobs have become saturated and encouraged youths and students to pursue skill development, entrepreneurship, and opportunities in the private sector to strengthen the economy.

He also stressed the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among all communities residing in Peren district and urged continued cooperation with the administration and police.

The Deputy Commissioner further expressed concern over the rampant sale of land in the district and urged the people to safeguard land and resources for future generations. On Aadhaar enrolment, he noted the low enrolment rate in Ahthibung subdivision and emphasized the importance of Aadhaar in availing various government welfare schemes. He encouraged the public to complete Aadhaar enrolment without hesitation.
