The Regional Ayurveda Research Centre (RARC) in Dimapur, in collaboration with the State Ayush Department of Nagaland, held a press conference on October 22 to celebrate and showcase the significant milestones reached by the Ministry of Ayush in its first 100 days. The conference emphasized the Ministry’s initiatives under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance traditional medicine systems and broaden access to quality healthcare throughout India.
During the press event, various speakers highlighted several key achievements, including:
- Geriatric Health Camps: Over 14,000 Ayush-led health camps were organized nationwide, surpassing the original target of 10,000 camps in 100 days. These camps provided free consultations and treatments in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy, addressing the holistic healthcare needs of the elderly.
- Ayushman Arogya Mandir Certification: A total of 1,489 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were evaluated by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), with 1,005 being awarded the Ayush Entry Level Certification. This initiative ensures the delivery of quality healthcare services across the country.
- MoUs with Global Partners: The Ministry signed significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Vietnam and Malaysia to foster collaboration in the fields of medicinal plants and Ayurveda, promoting the global acceptance of traditional medicine practices.
- Integration with Ayushman Bharat: The Ministry finalized 170 Ayush packages under the Ayushman Bharat – PradhanMantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to integrate Ayushtreatments into the national healthcare system, ensuring affordable traditional healthcare services for all.
- Centers of Excellence in Ayush: Six new Centers of Excellence were established in collaboration with prestigious institutions like IISc Bangalore and IIT Delhi, with a focus on advancing research and innovation in traditional medicine.

The RARC Dimapur team highlighted Nagaland’s active participation in these initiatives, noting the successful local implementation of the “Har Ghar AyurYog” campaign, which aims to bring Ayurveda and Yoga to every household, promoting a healthier lifestyle across the state.
Dr. Vilas Gangurde, R.O. In-charge (Ay) of RARC Dimapur, expressed pride in the progress made by the Ministry, stating, “The achievements of the Ministry of Ayush in just 100 days reflect its commitment to revitalizing traditional medicine systems and ensuring their integration into modern healthcare. The initiatives being implemented in Nagaland will not only enhance public health but also preserve and promote our rich heritage of traditional medicine.”
Dr. T. Bendangtula, Deputy Director Ayush stated that there are total of 142 Ayush doctors posted in all the district among which 25 are in state service and the others are in contractual service.
The medical practitioner also informed that Nagaland is fighting with non communicable because of unhealthy lifestyle. The need for Ayush to cure different kind of sickness was highlighted.
Ayush has great role of promoting and encouraging healthy lifestyle, said Dr. Bendangtula informing that there are more than 1500 medicinal indigenous plants in our state where some of these medicinal plants can be found in one’s kitchen garden .
“Lots of scholars are researching these plans and till now 650 plants had been identified and still more can be done. As there are no manufacturing unit in Nagaland, we hope that one day it will be made available and on the future we will be able to make our own,” stated the Deputy Director who also urged the public to avail the Ayush facilities.
