The Thipüzu Youth Organization (TYO) 37th Games and Sports Meet got underway at Thipüzu Local Ground under Phek district with Nagaland’s Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo as the special guest.
Addressing the opening ceremony on December 17, he encouraged the youth to dream big for medal podium at international and national level sports stating that sports is a serious profession now, adding that the state government is committed to the promotion of sports and sportspersons.
Khamo maintained that the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA), under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, is committed to promoting talented youth in sports by providing them with a platform and training to excel besides hosting Nagaland Olympics, Northeast Olympic Games, and other national sports events.
The Advisor also highlighted the accomplishments of sportspersons from the state such as the first Indian football captain, Dr. T. Ao, archer Chekrovolu Swuro, and Paralympic medalist Hokato Hotozhe Sema. He urged the youth get inspired from these sports heroes from the state adding that once, a person achieved medal can get huge rewards to be rich with fame and employment.

Additionally Khamo pointed out that Thipüzu village has not only been a pioneering village in education and Christianity, but even in farming of horticultural crops- Kiwi and Persimmon. He acknowledged the village for the encouragement and inspiration instilled in the community. Maintaining that Thipüzu village is known for their traits of honesty, the Advisor advised the youth the same which are the requisite for a chuch, society and government to progress.
Furthermore, Khamo asserted the need to uphold honesty and faith to have a peaceful society and urged the community to uphold the Christian identity.
On the occasion, presidential address was delivered by Vesopra Rose. The programme was led by Razucuyi Tetseo, while Nüvelü Tetseo presented a special song, and the oath-taking was administered by Acüzo Tested, Games Secretary of TYO.
The games and Sports meet will culminate on December 20 with team competing in Track events, field events and games for both men and women.
