Former NPCC President K. Therie has termed the current year’s budget as a skewed Budget more serious than any other year.
“Perhaps it was prepared under point-blank gunpoint. Justice and equality have been shot dead. Ransom promised to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh looks like a paper tiger. A promise of NH Roads and the loan from multi-national Banks may or may not see the light of day. CSSs will be implemented at the pleasure of the Central Govt. Promises usually take decades to roll out. Loans against the projects to the States will take their own sweet time. And mind it, the inner heart does not like the idea of extortion. It may be hard to move the files. Even if loans are secured, they will be a burden to the States for repayment will have to be borne by the new generations to come,” stated Therie in a press release issued today.
Whether in the ruling or opposition, Therie reminded that, members are expected to protect the Constitution and that the Government should not be allowed to function under pressure or fear.

“Tax, cess, and surcharges are all paid by the public for the welfare of the people. GST Compensation, Cess, National Calamity Contingent Duty on Tobacco and Tobacco Products, Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess, Road and Infrastructure Cess, Health and Education Cess, Cess on Crude Oil, and Cess on Exports are the different types of cesses in India. These funds belong to the people. The people have authorized Parliament to use these funds judiciously and proportionately for the welfare of the people and economic growth of the nation. I doubt this is so,” stated Therie.
Acknowledging Kapil Sibal’s observations, Therie said that the data reflects where the Nation is and that the Parliament should not ignore them.
“This budget has violated the spirit of the Constitution. We will see the wisdom of the Hon’ble MPs,” said Therie who is also a former Finance Minister of Nagaland.
