The United Sangtam Likhum Pümji (USLP) has declared “non-cooperation” against the GPRN/NSCN (Nikki) over an alleged extortion case involving commercial vehicles in the Longkhim-Chare area of Nagaland.
According to a statement issued by USLP after a joint meeting with the Longkhim-Chare Area GBs Union and village head GBs at Longkhim Town on May 21, the USLP said the issue pertains to alleged extortion of cash, groceries and other items from commercial vehicles between Kiding Village and Chare Town on November 30, December 2 and December 3, 2025.
The organisation stated that after the matter came to its notice, the Chare Area GBs Union (CAGU) was directed to investigate the incident since it fell under its jurisdiction. Following what it described as a thorough inquiry, the persons allegedly involved were identified as members of the GPRN/NSCN (Nikki) group.
The statement claimed that during a meeting held on December 15, 2025, representatives of the regional authorities of the group, led by the chairman of Sangtam Region, allegedly admitted that cadres belonging to the organisation were involved in the extortion activities. It further stated that the group had agreed to identify and produce the accused individuals before the “court” of the CAGU on or before December 30, 2025, and signed an agreement to that effect.
According to the USLP, another condition in the agreement stated that if any untoward incident occurred to leaders or members of the CAGU, the GPRN/NSCN (Nikki) would be held solely responsible.
However, the USLP alleged that despite a follow-up meeting scheduled on December 20, 2025, the names of the accused were not disclosed by the Home Affairs wing of the group and the alleged culprits were not produced.

Subsequently, another agreement was reportedly signed, resolving to impose non-cooperation against the group until the matter was resolved, suspend cadres belonging to the Chare area from accountability within the area, and publicise the agreement through the media.
After reviewing the matter, the USLP alleged that even higher authorities of the group had “deliberately failed to cooperate” and instead sheltered the accused individuals, which it said endangered cordial relations in society.
“In light of the above, the USLP hereby resolved unanimously and declares non-cooperation to GPRN/NSCN (Nikki) from this day, the 21st May 2026, within the entire Sangtam jurisdiction including the five Sangtam villages of Dimapur district, until such time the case is settled by bringing the indiscipline culprits to book and produced before the office of the USLP,” the statement said.
