Tokhü Emong Festival 2024 was celebrated at the Public Ground, Wokha, with Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S. Supongmeren Jamir, as the Special Guest.
In his address, Jamir acknowledged the dynamism and vision of the Lotha community which has made a significant impact on the state’s development. He recognized their contributions in various fields such as politics, bureaucracy, and entrepreneurship. However, he cautioned that with such extraordinary blessings comes a great responsibility. The MP stressed that the wisdom and talents bestowed upon the Lotha people must be used wisely and that there must be a spirit of positive competition, rather than division, among villages, clans, and tribes.
Jamir reminded that Tokhü Emong is a festival that symbolizes forgiveness and unity and reminded the community that the essence of the festival lies not just in celebration, but in embracing the values of forgiveness, helping one another, and reconciling differences. He also pointed out that the festival is not only significant for the Lotha community, but it is a powerful example of unity for all the people of Nagaland, irrespective of their tribes or districts.
The MP concluded by reminding the Lotha community that their success is not just for their own benefit but for the entire Naga community and the state of Nagaland. The blessings they have received should be used for the greater good, ensuring that the collective progress of the Nagas continues to move forward in harmony and unity.
During the program, the MP Supongmeren Jamir officially launched an ambulance donated to Wokha, enhancing local healthcare resources.
The event included performance like cultural performances from cultural troupes and exhibition of traditional games such as Naga Wrestling and Tug of War.
