Workshop on myScheme, digital governance held in Kohima

The department of Information Technology and Communication (IT and C), conducted a one-day workshop on myScheme awareness and UX4G (User Experience for Government Applications) at the conference hall of the Directorate of IT and C, Kohima on May 8. Organized in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, the workshop was aimed at building awareness and capacity among government officials regarding user-centric digital platforms.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, director IT and C, Sabou Yashu stated that the department had previously conducted two rounds of training on upgradation and maintenance of government websites with various departments and more such workshops on subjects such as cyber security related issues, artificial intelligence (AI) are in the pipeline. He said that with the rapid technological advancements, all government departments too must adapt with those changes and utilize the various technologies available to provide the best services to the citizens.

Commissioner & Secretary for IT and C Dr. G. Hukugha Sema delivering the keynote address, stressed on the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in public digital platforms. He said that myScheme app launched in 2022, is a one-stop solution for information on government schemes and serves as a single national platform for the schemes of both the central and state governments. He also said this initiative will bring the government closer to the people, to be transparent and make the schemes available to all citizens on time.

The official emphasized the importance of making the app user-friendly so that it is easily accessible to all the citizens, particularly for the underprivileged sections of society. He also encouraged all departments to collaborate and utilize the scheme and app to deliver a “smarter, faster and more citizen-friendly” governance.

Consultant at myScheme Rohit Lamba and senior consultant for UX/UI at NeGD, MeitY Neeta Tandon also delivered presentations.

The key objectives of the workshop was to create awareness about myScheme, a centralized online platform that enables citizens to easily search for and discover government schemes they are eligible for and for supporting government departments and ministries in adopting user experience (UX) design principles to improve the usability and accessibility of e-Governance applications.

The workshop was divided into two sessions. The first session, centered on myScheme, delved into the vision, scope, and implementation approach for making government schemes more accessible to citizens through a unified platform. Detailed technical briefings were provided on content management and onboarding of Nagaland-specific schemes.

The second session under the theme UX4G, emphasized the role of design-thinking and intuitive interfaces in enhancing the usability of G2C (Government-to-Citizen) portals. Demonstrations included a case-study specific to Nagaland and a walkthrough of the UX4G Design System for building reusable digital components.

Senior officers from various departments participated in the event. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, and closing remarks from the organizers and attendees.
