The reservation refers to the P&AR notification dated 23nd March 2022 and verdict of Guwahati High Court (High Court of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh) Kohima Bench, Case No: WP (c)42/2023 dated 29th September 2023.

Despite the two organisations persistently submitting a number of joint representation to the government to expedite the 25 percent reservation in line with the office notification and court verdict, the YAA and TSU stated that the government remained indifferent towards their genuine demand.

The organisations further claimed that the government “utterly failed to implement the same which act had colossally affected the aspirants and denizens and denied ones fundamental right that cannot and will not be compromised”.

Following the discrepancies from the part of the government and in order to protect its legitimate rights, the Yimkhiung Akheru Arihako (YAA) and Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) has issued five days ultimatum (till 30th November 2024) to the State Government to expedite 25 percent reservation amongst the 7 tribes and 6 Districts of Eastern Nagaland. “Failing to comply to the genuine demand the YAA and TSU will be compelled to resort for indefinite democratic agitation and abstention from all the state events, and any untoward incident during the course of agitation the state government will be squarely responsible,” cautioned the organisations.
