In a bid to prevent hoarding and illegal diversion of LPG, officials of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), in coordination with the State Government of Nagaland, have carried out 79 inspections across the State since last month. This was disclosed during a press conference at Kohima.

Official disclosed that action has been initiated against LPG distributors found violating standard operating procedures, particularly in areas such as digital booking and compliance with the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system. So far, show-cause notices have been issued to seven distributors for non-compliance with standard operating procedures.

Authorities informed that all OMCs are enforcing strict measures under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 to ensure accountability and prevent malpractices in the supply chain.

Reiterating the availability of essential fuels, officials stated that sufficient stock of petrol, diesel, and LPG is currently maintained, and supply across Nagaland remains stable and uninterrupted.

Citizens have been urged not to believe in rumours or engage in panic buying and hoarding, as such actions could disrupt the distribution system. The public has also been advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and to rely only on official communications.

Addressing media persons, Himakshi Saikia, State Level Coordinator, IOCL, Nagaland stated that supply of domestic LPG cylinders and petroleum products in Nagaland remains completely normal. On behalf of all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), she assured that adequate stock of both LPG and petroleum products are available across the state.

She informed that supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG is fully stable and under control. Uninterrupted availability is being maintained through the state’s strong infrastructure, continuous monitoring systems, and close coordination with State Government officials, she added.

At present, Nagaland has 250 retail outlets (238 operated by OMCs and 12 private) along with two operational supply depots. On average, 280 KL of petrol (MS) and 640 KL of diesel (HSD) are supplied daily through these outlets. Current stock levels are sufficient for approximately six days of petrol and sixteen days of diesel. All OMC retail outlets are functioning normally, with no restrictions on sales. Nozzle sales remain consistent with consumption patterns observed between January and March 2026, indicating stable demand. Citizens are therefore advised not to engage in panic buying.

In terms of LPG supply, around 4.204 lakh consumers are being served through 84 distributors and one bottling plant in the state. Distributors currently have adequate stocks of domestic LPG cylinders, and no dry-outs have been reported. On average, 6,258 refills are delivered daily, and a backlog of approximately 3.08 days is being cleared as per scheduled bookings. Overall, the LPG supply remains stable.

Digitization of LPG services has seen significant progress, with 80.6% of bookings now made through digital platforms, up from 61.8% two months ago. Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) compliance has also improved to 78.4%, compared to 52% earlier.

Consumers have been encouraged to use digital booking methods and provide the DAC at the time of delivery to ensure safe and transparent distribution. Daily PMUY (Ujjwala) refills in March 2026 stood at approximately 45,812, compared to an average of 46,504 in February 2026. To support low-consumption households, migrant labourers, and students, 5 kg LPG cylinders are being made available. In March 2026, 485 such cylinders were sold, while 737 have been sold since April 1, 2026.

As per Government of India guidelines, commercial LPG allocation is currently maintained at 70%, with priority given to essential sectors such as hospitals, educational institutions, defence, railways, government establishments, hotels and restaurants, industrial canteens, and food processing units. Daily monitoring is being carried out to ensure smooth distribution.

Regular coordination meetings are being held between the State Government, the Civil Supplies Department, and OMCs. District-level monitoring committees remain active, and stock reports are submitted daily to the state control room by 10 a.m.

The Government of Nagaland and the Oil Marketing Companies have assured all citizens that the supply of petroleum products remains stable, well-managed, and uninterrupted.
