The 39th Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) convention is set to be held from 13–16 January under the theme ‘Credible Witness of Christ’ at St Joseph College (Autonomous) Jakhama.

The convention will be hosted by the Southern Angami Catholic Union (SACU).

Addressing a press conference at SJC (A) on Thursday, CAN president Johnny Ruangmei shared that Catholics from across the state will gather for the triennial convention which also coincides with 39 years of CAN existence.

Over 3,000 delegates from all districts are expected to be part of the three-day convention.

Bishop of Kohima, Most Reverend Dr James Thoppil, will grace the event as the chief patron, Principal secretary to Chief Minister K D Vizo as the chief guest, and President of All India Catholic Union (AICU) Elias Vas as the guest of honour.

Ruangmei also shared that the convention will conclude with a Eucharistic procession which will commence from the college ground to Jakhama and will converge at the college with a final prayer.

The convention will include topics based on Catholic social teachings, principles and participation from Gospel values and unite all believers as one. Ruangmei hoped that the convention would allow believers to enjoy, learn and grow together.
